See How Easily You Can Prevent Cancer and Diabetes with Maple Syrup

Are you looking for a natural solution to reduce the risk of diabetes and slow down the growth of cancer cells?

Your search is probably over because recent studies have shown that maple syrup holds the key to these problems.

US researchers have found that maple syrup has the ability to substantially decrease the risk of diabetes. The syrup also showed great potential in slowing down the growth of cancerous cells. Maple syrup has thirteen active antioxidant substances. These antioxidants were previously unknown but were discovered only recently.

Because of these antioxidants, researchers have firmed up that maple syrup has a great potential in fighting cancer growth, diabetes, and infections.

Food for Diabetic Sufferers

Maple syrup contains increased levels of abscisic acid and phytohormone.
These substances can effectively defend your body against diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The acid has a unique role in controlling diabetes.

It release insulin through the pancreatic cells and promotes enhanced sensitivity of fat cells to insulin. Because of these unique actions, maple syrup can control diabetes. The results of the studies were presented to the American Chemical Society in San Francisco. These results were carefully reviewed by other experts in the field.

The Anti Cancer Potential of Maple Syrup

Quebec researchers, on the other hand, conducted a study to probe the impact of maple syrup on cancer cell growth. The results of this study were published in the Journal of Medicinal Food. According to the researchers, your favorite maple syrup can significantly slow down the growth of cancerous cells.

It has been found that the syrup is effective in inhibiting the growth of brain, prostate, and lung cancer. However, the efficacy of the syrup on breast cancer growth was less significant.

Your Tasty Alternative to Fight Cancer and Diabetes

Maple syrup can serve as your tasty alternative in fighting cancer and diabetes. There are many anti cancer foods today like blueberries, tomatoes, broccoli, and carrots. However, recent studies have shown that maple syrup is more effective against cancer compared to other anti cancer foods.

Laboratory testing results also show that the syrup is more potent compared to the maple sap.It is also ideal to use the pure dark syrup rather than the lighter syrup.

Dark syrup has high color oxidation. This is the reason why darker maple syrup should be preferred. So if you want a better alternative to fight cancer and diabetes, then your favorite maple syrup is a good option.

Major Sports in Atlanta

So, I was wondering what all there would be to do in Atlanta, Georgia. It turns out that my good friend Tammy won two round trip plane tickets to Atlanta and hotel accommodations for a three-night stay. She won the trip through a drawing at work that was part of the annual convention and seminar event. The point of all this, which might be obvious, is that she invited me to go with her and not being one to pass up a free trip I accepted. Meanwhile, I had never been to Atlanta before and was wondering what all we might want to do there.

About the only aspects I was aware of before looking into the local entertainment and cultural aspects of the city was the fact that the Atlanta Hawks were their NBA team and the Braves were their baseball team. And of course the Atlanta Falcons are their football team. There, that was the extent of my knowledge about Atlanta, Georgia. However, now I can say I’m actually much more familiar with it, well and of course I have been there and explored the city by now, but I also did my homework before arriving.

It turns out that in addition to all of the major professional sports teams, Atlanta really has a lot of dynamic cultural institutions and entertainment options. We also had a great time at some of the local nightclubs. We love to go dancing and sort of mingling with new people and our first night in town we went to a place called Compound. It’s on Brady Avenue and is really a cool and kind of chic, but not pretentiously, in its own way. We also went to happy hour at a place called Loca Luna just because Tammy liked the name. The happy hour was great and they’re known for their appetizers. This has just been a light sampling, but we had a fabulous time in Atlanta and I recommend it as a vacation destination for anyone.

Outdoor Grills and Dining Areas Are Perfect for Holiday Parties

Sandie was incredibly excited at the beginning of this holiday season. And while this might come as a surprise to some people, the reason for it was that she volunteered to host the holiday work party at her house. She had only moved into her new home the year before and one of her biggest desires in purchasing the house was to install an incredible backyard kitchen area so she would be able to host events like the holiday party. She had recently completed the work and was so proud of it and excited to share the space with others that she presented the idea to her company fun committee before discussions of the party had even entered the office.
Fortunately, most of the food was going to be brought in the form of potluck. Sandie was prepared for it and had ample counter space as well as a nice refrigerator and food warmer. She added these as optional features hoping to have just such a reason to use them. The built in barbeque grills that were included with the island model she chose would be perfect for grilling the chicken breasts she planned to serve.

As the day approached Sandie began decorating the outdoor area. She had a beautiful rose garden off to the side and she placed lights and sculptured decorations in the garden. She also put wreathes and berries along the fireplace mantel as well as placed smaller ones on the table and counter area. She had scented candles that would create a great introductory ambiance though she knew the smell of foods would quickly overtake it. The night of the party she was so excited that her dream had actually come true and she was hosting her first party in her beautiful outdoor kitchen and dining area. And while she loved rain, she greatly hoped that on that evening the sky would remain clear and the stars would shine.

Vegetarians Come a Long Way

Damian became a vegetarian in the late 1980s. At the time he and some friends were studying at The University of Arizona and would have some cheap lunch when they got out of class. Their habit was to eat a greasy hamburger and fries and they would usually find themselves with greatly upset stomachs for the rest of the day. It was something of a coincidence that Damian and his friend Michael both decided on the same day to become vegetarians.

While making the decision and beginning the new lifestyle dietary choice was easier once they realized they would be doing it together, it was still 1988 and their were no companies such as Morningstar or Boca to help them along. Damian remembers clearly the afternoon he and Michael tried sat down at a new healthy café and saw the Garden burger on the menu. It sounded strange but they were both tempted to try it and instantly loved it. Most of the time when they were out, they would have to settle for ordering a salad or vegetable plate or some minor collection of side dishes. Also, they were both constantly asking if chicken or beef broth had been added to a dish and were often disappointed to find out that it was.

Those early vegetarian college days were difficult but both students were solid and committed to their choice. Michael moved out of state when they graduated and eventually they lost touch. They both went on with their careers and lives. However, last year, Michael was in Tucson visiting his family and went to pick up some soy ham slices. Surprisingly he ran into Damian at the market and they were extremely happy to see each other and catch up. Without giving it a thought, Damian asked if Michael wanted to have lunch at the local vegetarian restaurant and Michael eagerly agreed. After all that time and all they had independently been through, both men were still vegetarians and finally had restaurants and companies that catered specifically to them.

Drop In gas Grills

I’ve been using one of my drop in gas grills a lot lately, experimenting with turkey thighs in order to get ready for the Downtown Tempe BBQ competition. Cooking on that grill brings back memories of what it was like before I purchased my smoker and how it used to make the best BBQ on the block. See, no one on my block has a smoker, but they do have some sort of grill.

In honor of Labor Day, I thought I’d share some of my favorite recipes. One of the more important aspects to this recipe is to have all of your coals on one side of the kettle, plus, keep in mind, you don’t need that many coals, you just need enough for one charcoal chimney. Get yourself one rack of ribs, or four depending on how many you are feeding. Make sure, though, if you are using four rack of ribs to attach the rib rack, this will help maximize your horizontal space.

First, prepare the ribs by removing the membrane located on the inner side of the rack of ribs. I leave my rack of ribs whole, I don’t bother with trimming them up St. Louis or Kansas City style. Second, coat the ribs on all sides with a heaping amount of your favorite BBQ rub. Third, remove the top grate from your grill, light one charcoal chimney starter full of coals. When the coals have ashed over, pour them on to one side of the grill. It’s really important to have them all the way over to one side. Fourth, add a couple of chunks of hickory over the coals and replace the top grate, them cover your grill and close the vents. Wait for about 15 minutes. Fifth, add the ribs to the top grate opposite the hot coals, cover the grill and wait again for about 4 to 5 hours (Yes, wait 4 to 5 hours!), depending on your heat.

The temperature should be between 325 degrees to 350 degrees. Check on the ribs periodically if you are running the temperature a little hot. If you are running the grill a little too cold, open up the vents a little and let some air in. Sixth, pop open a nice cold beer and put your feet up. Seventh, glaze the ribs with your favorite BBQ sauce only when you have about a half an hour to go before you remove the ribs from the grill. Eighth, remove the ribs from your grill and let them rest for about 15 minutes. Use a sheet pan to do this. Then cut up the ribs, serve and enjoy!

Grilled Grilled Cheese

In the culinary imagination, drop in grills change the way we daydream about food. There is something more exotic about having the possibility of cooking outside always at our disposal than even a limitless number of burners inside. There is a primal element to grilling that also comes with a feeling of being ultra-civilized, and the combination can be quite sumptuous. It certainly adds to the experience of cooking and eating, and there is nothing like the taste of food on the grill.

One of the staples of childhood, grilled cheese, can be re-invented on the drop in grill, and the taste is so sensational, you will wonder why you didn’t always prepare it this way. The thrill of the grill marks on bread that you cut yourself never gets old, and there is an enormous versatility here that will have you experimenting with your own idea of the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. Suffice to say, grilled cheese on a grill is something that one needs to add to their outdoor cooking repertoire. One idea about outdoor grilled cheese that is worth a few experiments is the addition of other ingredients. All chefs agree that grilled cheese marries very well with other flavors, and also, a little can go a long way. So, it’s important to choose with consideration, and also to keep the other ingredients to one or two, in order to not overwhelm the meal.

For meats, pepperoni and ham seem to be the most popular choices, and there are of course many other salted meats that can be tried to find your favorite. There are also options like hot peppers, and olives, and all the different types of these are worth sampling. For cheese, thinking out of the box is recommended, as there are many types that all melt differently. Recipes that call for halloumi in grilled cheese on the grill have earned a soft spot in our hearts. And there are certainly more, and they all make childhood seem present, only perhaps even tastier.

The Exotic Foods of Kolkata

Visitors to the city of Kolkata find a variety of experiences to make their stay memorable. The second largest city in India, Kolkata is more commonly known in the West as Calcutta (the city’s name was changed in 2001). The city is a mixture of East and West, of tradition and modern life. Known for its culture, arts, and spirituality, the city has a number of historic sites worth exploring. But whatever attractions draw you to the city, you’ll be sure to find delectable food nearby.

Kolkata has long had a reputation for the best restaurants in India. Many of the restaurants in the Esplanada are are over a hundred years old. While there are a number of world cuisines available in more modern eateries, it is the Indian cuisines that shouldn’t be missed. Bengali, Punjabi, Mughlai and other Indian foods are available in the city. Everything from street vendors selling egg rolls, kati rolls(a Kolkata speciality), and puchkas(Kolkata’s version of pani-puri) to upscale restaurants catering to the elite of Kolkata can be found in this modern metropolis.

Kolkata is a great place to find Bengali sweets, which are famous throughout the country. Cheese balls that are dipped in sugary syrup come in several varieties. Try Rasagolla (regular), Pantua (fried), and Rosomalia (dipped in sweetened creamy milk) to experience a range of flavors. Shondesh is made from fresh, finely ground cheese and comes in several hundred variations. Pitha are made from flour mixed with sugar, grated coconut, and other flavors and also come in a number of variations, usually with sweet syrups. The sweet yoghurt known as mishti doi is enjoyed by itself or as an element in other sweets.

Indian-Chinese food is also popular in the city. Most Chinese restaurants offer Indian variations of dishes such as hot and sour soup, chowmein, and fried rice. It wouldn’t be Indian-Chinese cuisine without chillis used to improve the original Cantonese flavors. Some favorite India-Chinese dishes include chilli chicken and chicken sweet corn soup.

In between sightseeing and dining be sure to squeeze in time for shopping and take time to relax in your hotel, especially if they are luxurious accommodations such as those found at the five star Kolkata hotels. Maybe you’ll find the food so inspiring that you’ll bring home a cookbook or two, or at least a desire to check out the Indian restaurant in your neighborhood.
