<p>Starting a business can be a difficult task, but it’s also one of the most rewarding.  Like setting sail on the ocean for the first time, when the land recedes into the horizon, any big adventure is marked by a combination of excitement and uncertainty.  Yet there are ways to make the going easier, and any adventure needs to have vision and organization at the outset in order for it to be truly successful.  If there is one central element of planning necessary for business, it most certainly is a business plan.  And if there is a central element to the business plan, it’s the <a href="http://www.missionstatements.com/" title="mission statement">mission statement</a>.  The mission statement is the most clear and concise way of phrasing exactly what it is the business is for, what it’s setting out to do, and what the owners represent.  It’s not something that initial lenders for the start up, such as <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/user/MoneyMutual" title="money mutual">MoneyMutual</a>, would look at necessarily, but it will be something shareholders will refer to often down the road.</p>
<p>Fortunately for today’s entrepreneur, the mysterious <a href="http://articles.bplans.com/writing-a-business-plan/a-standard-business-plan-outline" title="business plan">business plan</a> is not so mysterious any longer.  There are plenty of resources available on the web, at bookstores, and in libraries, that can make the process very transparent.  The business plan is a document that investors will look at, and one that the owners will refer to repeatedly.  Like any plan, then, it’s one that is subject to change, just as maps often change in the course of an adventure.  But its essential goals and objectives should stay the same, and that means vision.  Of course, the market analyses and projections are important components, but these are going to shift in the course of things.  The mission statement, on the other hand, isn’t subject to the same laws of chance.  Although the market might change, the reasons for running the business should remain unaltered.</p>
<p>In terms of planning, then, the mission statement really should be seen as something very much like the actual ship that carries the passengers.  A good mission statement will keep the business sailing, because it contains the reasons for setting out in the first place.  Doubtless, there needs to be some time and consideration for how the voyage can begin, and looking at <a href="http://www.moneymutualadvertising.com/" title="loan advertising">loan advertising</a> and acquaintances for start up funds are necessary, and they will need to be in the picture early on, but the vision has to be at the forefront.  Learning how to articulate one’s ideas in a concise form is valuable for every aspect of the journey.  </p>

<p>Is a college degree still worth the time and money?  The thoughtfully considered answer is – It depends.<br />
 The answer depends on the your abilities and ambitions, your school’s skills and costs, your field of study, your intended occupation, your method of payment, and many other questions that you will  encounter as you progress through your school selection and admissions process.<br />
 The generic answer is,<br />
 Yes- the need for specialized education beyond high school for careers in law, medicine, engineering, teaching and others is obvious.  The higher education is absolutely required; and the financial rewards are definite.<br />
Even so, you must be careful to:<br />
•       Choose a career for which the added educational expense will pay.<br />
•       Attend a school that produces competent graduates.<br />
•       Avoid contracting onerous debts for tuition, fees and living expenses.<br />
 Your answers to the same questions, as related to careers normally considered less financially rewarding than those above, become more complex.  The classic liberal arts education can be just as beneficial as those described if you select a minor and elective courses pointed at your anticipated vocation, or a range of vocations requiring similar abilities.<br />
 For example, if you are considering a career in the insurance business a foreign language selected to match the minority ethnic group in your geographic area will definitely be a wise choice.  The most common entry position in the insurance industry would be that of a salesman or producer as the position is known in the trade.  A bilingual ability will definitely broaden your potential client pool.  You may also benefit by inheriting potential clients from other non-bilingual agents.  And, the potential for a promotion into the management ranks will be enhanced by your ability to perform with non English speaking clients and agents alike.<br />
 Your education should not stop with graduation.  Today, continuing education is the norm.  For a career in insurance, you are likely to have an opportunity to expand your proffered products to include investment counseling, estate planning, and general financial planning.  Plan to study at your alma mater, another college, or through one of the excellent <a href="http://www.fastrackce.com/ " title="Insurance Continuing Education">Insurance CE</a> programs available online.  So, is a college degree still worth the time and money?  Definitely, Yes, but it is up to you to plan effectively, and make the right school and funding choices for your career. </p>

<p>In the 21st Century, companies such as <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/company/marlabs-inc">Marlabs Inc</a> connect hosting and managed IT services to its clients and employs Technology Centers everywhere from the U.S. to India, and use a variety of methods to keep communication going, including one vital aspect of staying in touch: the <a href="http://www.marlabsblogs.com">company blog</a>. </p>
<p>The term &#8220;blog&#8221; originated in the last years of the 20th Century, although it had precursors that go back to around 1983. Throughout the 80s, as the internet itself took shape, people had access to digital communities, including Usenet and Bulleting Board Systems or BBS. </p>
<p>Usenet featured newsgroups which were moderated, and were largely discussion forums; by the early 1990s, the term &#8220;world wide web&#8221; was coined and included USENET newsgroups designed for discussions and serial publishing. From 1994 to 2001, the blog itself arrived in the form of online journals as users recorded their personal lives.</p>
<p>In the late 1990s, the term &#8220;web log&#8221; came into use, which was quickly shortened to &#8220;blog.&#8221; As the 21st Century began, the idea of &#8220;blogging&#8221;expanded from a personal means of expression to a means of business to keep in contact with customers, with companies hiring people to write blogs for the companies.</p>
<p>Websites, both from personal home pages and from business sites, began to incorporate a &#8220;What&#8217;s New&#8221; category, in which discussions about issues related to the company could be held. Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report was an early example of news based web logging, as well as <a href="http://www.aldaily.com/">Arts &#038; Letters Daily</a> and the <a href="http://www.accuracy.org/">Institute for Public Accuracy</a>. </p>
<p>Over the last ten years, blogging has become an expected, even vital, method of communication between customers and businesses. It demonstrates to the consumer that the business cares about his or her needs. It allows the company to address issues that it might not be able to discuss in any other setting.</p>
<p>Through comment sections on blogs, customers and business people can get to know each other on a more personal level, and thereby, the businesses can better understand the needs of their customers, allowing for that company to grow.</p>
<p>The development of blogging has changed the way businesses operate, introducing another means of communicating with customers and helping to bring businesses in the 21st Century together. Moreover, it&#8217;s become an expected form of communication, just as the web page itself. In years past, businesses were slow to introduce a web page for their company; now, it&#8217;s as matter of survival. Similarly, blogs are a great means of letting customers know the people behind the business. As people come to know and trust each other, the more likelier they are to do business, a win-win for everyone.

<p>The notion of civil society is one that comes around cyclically, entering into the public discourse at key times, and then leaving once it has established itself in terms of definitions and frameworks. Interestingly, it is one of those notions whose definitions shift considerably each time, suggesting that it is rather fluid, almost like the notion of society shifts over time. For most definitions, there is a sense that it is a sense of public obligation, and a certain commitment to public and social institutions, and particularly those that lie outside of the realms of business or government. </p>
<p>In fact, it is usually quite explicit in most   <a href='http://www.civilsoc.org/whatisCS.htm'>definitions that civil society</a>   must necessarily lie beyond the scope of government and business. This suggests that it is something whose definition is better produced through negative relief, from what it is certainly not rather than what it certainly is. It&#8217;s rather difficult to find definitions that do encompass what it certainly is, because the notion of civil is something that changes perhaps more than society. Or better, it is entirely dependent on the social structures that decide what civil actually means for a particular time and place. Generally, it refers to those behaviors that make   <a href='http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/joepublic/2011/apr/27/need-broader-vision-big-society-civil-society'>public life</a>   possible without limiting anyone&#8217;s liberties. Its particular definitions are often drawn into question when there are significant cultural shifts underway, and when the public is questioning what it means to be a citizen. </p>
<p>This means, then, that a decision to transform a row of buildings on a busy public street by decorating their windowsills with   <a href='http://www.nextdayblinds.com/product_verticalvinyl.asp'>vinyl vertical blinds</a>   can be an issue for civil society. This is particularly true if the window dressings are chosen in order to present the town to itself in a positive and pleasing light, adding touches of charm in order to make the public atmosphere more endearing to its citizenry. By the same token, a decision to transform public buildings with window   <a href='http://www.nextdayblinds.com/'>blinds</a>   in order to cut down on heating costs is a matter that lies outside of the interests of civil society.<a href="http://www.sermblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Lesser_Town_Square.jpg"><img src="http://www.sermblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Lesser_Town_Square-300x225.jpg" alt="" title="Lesser_Town_Square" width="300" height="225" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2125" /></a></p>
<p>In that sense, it becomes a little clearer that these definitions are largely circumstantial. Although that may be a little surprising, it is entirely consistent with the nature of public life in general. Notions and definitions are never comfortable living in absolute realms for very long, especially when it comes to public discourse, and they necessarily depend on instances and examples in order to reach a deeper level of the collective consciousness. In this respect, then, civil society is a notion that is always on the verge of becoming, like a view through a window blind on a particularly sunny morning.

It is a low cost outlet for businesses and companies to promote their name and gain new customers that they might not have reached beforehand. Today, almost everyone communicates through some kind of social media, whether it be facebook, twitter, linked in, blogging, <a href="http://www.youtube.com">youtube </a>or the new google+. A company that does not have some sort of social media campaign is harming themselves in the long run. Because the younger generation communicates through the internet, a company that does not have those profiles will not be able to effectively reach the growing generation.</p>

Many companies are upping their usage of marketing tools and some are even trying out new ways to market their brand. All of these new changes have been sparked by the recession. <p>The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is located at 900 N. Las Vegas Blvd, just south of the intersection of Washington Avenue, next to Cashman Field and within walking distance from all major   <a href='http://www.4starhotelsinvegas.com/'>4 star hotels in Vegas</a>  . The museum is a fun for all ages and offers educational activities for adults and children alike. It is also much larger than it appears, housing more than half a dozen excellent and unique exhibits.</p>
<p>According the the   <a href='http://www.lvnhm.org/'>Natural Museum</a>  , Las Vegas was once located beneath an ancient sea. So, naturally, when you step inside the museum, you&#8217;ll be immersed in the Marine Life Gallery. You&#8217;ll feel like you stepped into the depths of the ocean itself. The room is filled with whales, sharks, dolphins, stingrays and many other sea creatures that are all suspended from the ceiling and walls. Plus, there is a 3,000 gallon live shark tank with bamboo sharks swimming past California round stingrays. In the next room, are several exhibits on sharks, including an exhibit devoted to the Great White sharks and an actual shark cage. There&#8217;s a full-sized replica of a Carcharodon Megalodon jaw and displayed alongside the jaw is a collection of items found in the bellies of various tiger sharks, like a shoe, a soda can, an unopened bottle of wine and even a license plate. </p>
<p>The Out-of-Africa exhibit is downstairs and features cheetahs, white rhinoceros, wart hogs, zebras and lions among many other African wildlife. Not far from that exhibit, you&#8217;ll get to listen to the sounds of an African rain forest and view into the forest floor to see the nocturnal habits of African creatures and of course, rainfall.</p>
<p>If you or your children have any scientific yearnings, check out the Young Scientist Center, which is a hands-on learning experience for all museum guests. You&#8217;ll get to unearth fossilized starfish, amphibian skulls and sharks teeth in a specially built sandbox that is a replica of a paleontology site. You may find that spending an afternoon isn&#8217;t enough time and want to come back the next day. There are several more exhibits, like the Egyptian room, or the snake pit room to mention a few. Don&#8217;t worry, the Natural History Museum is open daily from 9am to 4pm and it only costs $10 for adults and $5 for children 3 to 11 years of age.

<p>Almost all sales books you will see on the shelf will have somewhere in there a reference to the fact that you will need a good attitude if you want to make a lot of sales. If you don&#8217;t believe me, look at \ some book titles by Jeffery Gitomer like his   <a href='http://www.gitomer.com/Jeffrey-GItomer-Little-Gold-Book-of-Yes-Attitude-pluLGBYA.html'>Gold Book of Yes</a>  . It is surprising then when you think of all the sales people in your lifetime you have met that don&#8217;t seem all that friendly. Either they let the negative things about a product get in their way of being able to sell it to you, or just their desire to have you buy the bigger better model when you already said which one you want.</p>
<p>If you are a   <a href='http://www.allbusiness.com/labor-employment/compensation-benefits-wages-salaries/13777443-1.html'>sales person</a>  , here are some ideas to help you sell more products with a new positive attitude.</p>
<p>Your Baggage Doesn&#8217;t Matter.<br />
If you don&#8217;t like a product you are selling, you shouldn&#8217;t be selling it. Sometimes though you like all the other products you sell, just not one or two. What you think of those one or two don&#8217;t matter. What does matter is that the customer will be happy. Find out if the product they want to buy will cover their needs, if it will you should be willing to talk it up without being unhappy about it.</p>

Your Personal Life Doesn&#8217;t Matter.<br />

If you convince them that their problem is big enough to be worth finding a solution to, and that out of all of your competitors you have the best solution, you will be able to get their money. <p>My friend worked for a while in a shoe store as a salesman.  It was one of the more expensive stores, the kind that sells <a href="http://www.gucci.com/">Gucci</a> and Versace on a regular basis.  He lasted there a while too because he took the things he had learned in his previous job as a sales manager in at a software company , and applied them to his job at the shoe store.  It was an odd switch for him, but he like so many other people in this economic downturn, lost his job and took what he could get.  He actually likes his new job.  His wife however, probably loves it even more because it affords her the opportunity for better shoes and at better prices.  Though some of them are still pretty steep, at two-hundred dollars.</p>
<p>Although sales managers in smaller companies cannot afford the pricey <a href="http://www.dalecarnegie.com/search_courses/select_subject.jsp?courseSubject=SSM">sales management training</a> most top companies employ to help maintain great managers in their sales division, there are still things from those programs that are applicable to the smallest companies, from shoe stores to scrapbooking stores, from family owned businesses to small chains of restaurants.  One of the things he took from his training in sales and other kinds of <a href="http://www.dalecarnegie.com/search_courses/sem_desc.jsp?cCode=SLP&#038;state=All">corporate team building</a> sessions was the ability to adapt to change.  That is the single most important quality to have in business, or so he says.  He must be right, because he’s already had two promotions at his current job.  You also cannot get more changeable than a software salesman to a shoe salesman.</p>
<p>Perhaps the other most important quality a salesman must have is the ability to inspire trust in people.  This quality has become even more important due to his current job.  He’s touching women’s <a href="http://www.feetmagazine.com/">feet</a> all day, and there might not be anything more intimate than that.  He has to earn their trust and keep it.  He had to learn to act a little differently (at his last job, he could be more abrupt), but that was all a part of transforming to fit the job.  So far, he has enjoyed the challenge, and appreciates the training his last job afforded him, as it is something he can take with him to any job he applies for now.

<p>Many top companies in the United States have armies of executive coaches in their payroll.  In fact, IBM has 60.  It is becoming for some companies a necessary and vital step for growing as an executive.  Part of the reason for this growing trend originates from the fact that companies view solitary interpersonal experiences a much more effective  way to provide the right kind of training than other methods.</p>
<p>The old view of <a href="http://www.dalecarnegie.co.uk/uk_courses_list.jsp?cCode=EEDP">executive coaching</a> once had a stigma attached to it.  It was once only used for those people with poor performance levels in the workplace, but now executive coaching is being used more and more as a supplement to aid those with great performance.  Right Management Consultants did some research that supported this trend and found that about ninety percent of companies use executive coaching to improve capabilities and skills for those with future potential at companies.</p>
<p>But companies must know what kinds of managers will be best to spend the time, money, and effort on for executive business coaching, and what kinds of methods are best suited to them.  People who have had executive coaching will often know who is best to recommend the service to.  In addition, coachers themselves can usually help provide not just feedback but who the best candidates are for their services.  </p>
<p>However, there is a growing trend of the companies not necessarily choosing who gets the coaching to improve but the executive themselves who volunteer for the surface.  Ambitious and motivated people tend to sign up, but just because it is a growing trend does not mean it right for everyone.  The best people for coaching often already have goals in their mind of where they want to move within the company, but just have a little trouble of knowing how to get there. The same also goes for executive coaching.  Though not for everyone, it certainly helps a company to gain and keep the best executives possible.
