Should You Go to Golf School?

Posted in Education

Knowing whether golf school is right for you is ultimately going to be a decision only you can make. There are, however, some questions you can ask yourself in order to get to a final answer.

Do you love Golf? If golf isn’t just a sport to you but an actual way of life worthy of a capital letter, then the odds are that you would be happiest in a career that lets you express that love and contribute to the game in some way or other. Getting a golf degree will put you in the perfect position for a wide range of jobs in the golf industry so that you can meld your passion with your career.

Are you a top player? Golf schools have a dual focus. The first is on the game itself. Every student is expected to continue working on their game and learning new skills and techniques. This additional training can be the difference between being an amateur and a professional player, which is why many aspiring pros attend golf school. Given that the other focus of golf school is on business, it will also give you the knowledge and business skills you’ll need to navigate a professional career.

Are you looking for a career with good job and earning potential? The golf industry has been growing for the last decade. There are literally thousands of jobs available at courses, tours, schools, and golf businesses. Some of these jobs involve travel across the country or around the world. Salaries are competitive, especially for those who have a management degree and have completed a successful internship.

So, the question is in your hands: should you go to golf school?

Game Warden Careers

Posted in Education

The idea of being a game warden, like that of a forest ranger , hearkens back to an earlier way of life. To a time when humans depending on hunting, fishing, and the wilderness in order to survive. In these days when society has become more removed from these basic instincts and environments, there are still many people who seek out careers that allow them to spend time outdoors.

There are even special degree programs for those who want to become game wardens. Most people don’t realize that, at a minimum, most states require a bachelor’s degree for applicants. This position requires a knowledge of law enforcement principles and tactics as well as an understanding of wildlife and wilderness environments.

The competition for game warden positions is tough. There are usually many more applicants than positions and people are willing to apply for jobs far from their hometowns. This gives applicants with specialized degrees and extensive fish and game experience or previous law enforcement work the edge in being hired.

Game wardens are responsible for enforcing the state’s fish and wildlife code, including laws pertaining to boating, hunting, and fishing. They are frequently called upon to help in search and rescue operations and to help remove dangerous wildlife from residential areas. They must be in good physical condition and pass polygraph tests and background checks.

Christmas Shopping: the Direct Approach

Posted in Shopping

This late in the game it’s hard to imagine a way to make Christmas shopping easy. If you haven’t started your shopping by now it’s most likely because you don’t have any idea where to start or your list is full of people that seem impossible to buy for. There are still a few tricks you can use to relieve the stress and quickly navigate your way thru the holidays.

The most important thing to remember is that this is just shopping. It’s not rocket science and no one is going to die if you buy the wrong present — not even you. So don’t worry about whether the designer earrings you buy for your sister are expensive enough or if the toy you pick out for a niece is the most popular one available. Just relax and remember that no amount of anxiety and worry is going to make the gift better.

Next, take your list and quickly writer one or two words that you associate with that person. It’s best if they are action words, like cooking, running, volunteering, or specific interests, such as you know that they love a certain author, movie, or tv show. That gives you a base for finding something they will either love, use, or, hopefully, both. If you do the word association ahead of time, you can zip directly to the right department in a store or the perfect website to order them exactly what they will love — even if they didn’t know they wanted it.

Why You Need Flood Lights

Posted in Home & Garden

Home owners have two basic reasons for installing outdoor lights. The first is security and the second is to facilitation use and enjoyment of outdoor spaces. Some people focus on one or the other, but for those who want both, flood lights are a key element.

Security floodlights can be installed on a timer or with motion-detection sensors. The latter will conserve energy, but may be susceptible to every small animal that wanders through a yard. The important factor is to bathe a yard or part of a yard in light thus discouraging potential thieves from attempting to break in.

Landscape floodlights are useful in highlighting specific plants or elements of a yard. They can be used to illuminate features such as statuary or fountains at night as well as to call attention to beautiful trees, night blooming plants , or simply to light up a backyard seating area.

These lights can be installed in a number of ways, making them more versatile than other types of outdoor lighting. They can be planted in the ground and light from above or they can be attached to a roof, side of a building, or even on trees, walls and fences.
