While anytime the subject of Las Vegas may come up, most people are automatically going to think about some of the country’s greatest gambling casinos and fabulous shows. Of course delicious buffets and affordable rooms might also be supplemental follow through thoughts, though undoubtedly, the word city will forever be associated with gambling and if I say Vegas, you say strip. Well this is well and good, it is important to keep in mind that there is actually a lot more going on in the city and the surrounding area than what most people acknowledge or sometimes even realize. And one of the more popular aspects for residents is the fact that there are some beautiful park and recreational areas just outside of the main strip. This is something that residents enjoy and love about the region and tourists learn how diverse the area is when they visit.
North Las Vegas is a great example. It is actually a city in its own right though it is part of the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area. It was originally established in 1946, so it’s a relatively new city, as the Nellis Air Force Base . It’s an incredibly beautiful and relatively quiet city in the larger metropolis and it is increasing in popularity with people who want to visit Vegas but prefer to stay somewhere outside of the main strip. North Las Vegas has beautiful views of the Mojave Desert landscape and surrounding mountains as well as of the city of Vegas itself. It is the perfect retreat for those who enjoy a good show and maybe a few hours at a machine but prefer a quite hotel that is removed from the hub of all the activity. Some of the neighborhoods in North Las Vegas have park like atmospheres some of them even contain park and recreational areas. The Aliante neighborhood features the Nature Discovery Park , which is 20 acres of natural scenic elements and a 24 mile interconnected trail. There is a gorgeous lake and beautiful acres of serene landscape.
