I can not say enough about how much our family enjoyed out stay in the Brisbane boutique hotels this past summer. Everyone was happy because there were a lot of things for us all to do. Through the hotel we were able to find many activities for the kids that they really did enjoy and got to meet kids there vacationing from other parts of Australia and the world. A great experience for them, perhaps some long term friendships will come from the swapping of email with some of the kids on our departure.
Brisbane is just about right smack in the middle of the eastern coast line of Australia, in the state of Queensland. The Brisbane river winds through the city and empties in to the Moreton Bay. It is the longest river in the state and makes for pretty scenery within the city of Brisbane. Eating dinners at riverside resturaunts became a favorite for our evening dinners along with walks evening and mornings there.
Brisbane is a modern city as you would expect. Lots of high rises and bustle that comes with a modern urban area however tempered by the proximity to the ocean and the call of the Pacific. Residences of Brisbane sure do appear to love the out of doors, and why not! With lost of sun and warm temperatures why would you want to sat inside. This adds a laid back side to this big city a balance so to speak.
Our stay we experience nice warm days that were for the most part sunny and dry. The evenings were cool and in contrast to the days were almost chilly. Jackets and sweaters were required especially if these was a wind. The sunny days were a welcomed relief from all the cold and rain back home. Brisbane was a great idea for a vacation. Hopefully we will have a chance to return one day.

The last time I was in Cape Town we had a car hire in South Africa to take us around and to see the sights. This was an excellent idea as we ended up in places and doing and seeing things we simply would not have had we just gone out on our own. We ended up eating at local resturaunts, seeing views from the mountains and having a night filled with drink, dancing and laughter. We began early in the day meeting our driver outside the hotel. He was a pleasant man and on time his English was not the best but we could manage. We asked first to be taken for some drives along the ocean where we would be able to see spectacular views of the rugged coast and wild surf of South Africa do some beach combing and wading in the cold waters. After some time driving along the ocean the driver suggested he take us in land up the near by mountain to see the view. It was much cooler up there in the mountains but we were sure glad we went any way. There is where we were able to see where the Atlantic ocean meet the Pacific ocean. The driving around was really nice being able to see the country side, villages and views of the country. In the afternoon we headed back to the city for a late lunch or driver suggested a local spot very popular with folks in the area. The food was really good and we were very pleased with our drivers suggestions. After dinner we asked where the locals hangout to pass the night away. Happily he took us to some night clubs in the heart of the city where the music was loud the drinks flowed like water and the dancing was non stop.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta is one of the most recognized and respected names in the world. Her life investment serving the needs of others exceeds the generosity and care of most individuals. She was born in 1910 in what is now Skopje, a Republic of Macedonia. Due to her extensive work and founding of Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India, that is the place to which she is most commonly associated. And she did have Indian citizenship, though she was Albanian. She was also a Catholic nun. Most people throughout the world are familiar with her work and charity services, and certainly the guests staying in a palace hotel India, will certainly be aware of this remarkable woman and her life’s work. Her efforts extended to crisis situations, and she became well known for rescuing children and young hospital patients from war and violence torn areas.
Mother Teresa’s extensive life work spanned a remarkable 45 years, during which time she was completely devoted to the ministering to the sick, poor, dying, homeless and orphaned. She initiated the organization known as the Missionaries of Charity and also lead its expansion across India and into other countries. As early as the 1970s she had gained an international reputation as a great humanitarian. This is partly due to a documentary that was made about her by Malcolm Muggeridge. This led to a book, Something Beautiful for God, based on the documentary that was published and read throughout the world. In 1979 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and the following year she received the Bharat Ratna, which is India’s highest award giving to citizens. By the time of Mother Teresa’s death in Calcutta in September of 1997, the Missionaries of Charity was operating in 123 countries, with 610 missions. After her death, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II.

The history of the success of Hong Kong is a long history. Rumors had been going around various countries for the ten years following the handing over of Hong Kong to China from Great Britain. But those rumors of the social and the economic demise of the city were unfounded and the Hong Kong has become a booming center for trade, commerce and tourism. The Hong Kong hotel industry as well as the other service industries of the restaurants, the bars, and the convention centers have been steadily becoming more successful.
And the day to day living has become more normal, in the political sectors as well as the social and financial realms. We planned to rent a car in Jaipur, even though neither I nor Marcy had ever driven in India and drive around without much of a plan with our digital cameras and just take a lot of pictures. We did have list of Jaipur hotelsin our GPS navigation unit we kept partially hidden lest (we thought) someone reach in through the window and snatch it. the list made us feel better about the wild streets of Jaipur as we could always retreat to Mulligatawny soup and gin and tonics. We picked up our rental car at the airport, a scruffy Fiat with a wheezy motor, but we felt free, both of us car driving junkies who just loved the freedom a set of wheels gives you, even if it was squat, yellow and had a tear in the upholstering. Marcy also bought a infra red scope to see a night, sea sickness pills in case we go out to see, a mini water purifier, iodine tabs, enough Pepto Bismolto soothe a horse, and a set of mini walkie talkies in case we got separated, a USB folding laptop cooling pad, which wasn’t really a bad idea there as our Macbooks ran hot, on infra red remote controlled alarm system, various travel adapter plugs, hats, sunscreen with never before heard of protection numbers, sunglasses and spares, ear plugs, nose drops, a travel French press, a phrase book, a universal cell phone and charger plus a solar charger, dust and pollen filter masks, hand cleaner, toilet paper, and a pair of orange Crocs she was sure she could get someone to accept in exchange for a lavender sari or a golden Buddha. All this she packed in a shoulder bag, she the expert travel packer one can imagine. When she traveled, she came loaded.

Anti-corruption agencies around the world quite often are looking at a variety of crimes when they investigate someone who is laundering money. The only reason someone needs to clean their cash is that they came into that cash through previously committed illegal activities. Drug dealers deal with large sums of money.
