I just love it when jargon makes its way into the dictionary. Although, I don’t think it has really made its way into the computer until freaking Microsoft Word stops putting squiggly red lines under it. But, hey a new version will probably come out soon.

It has been announced that the word staycation will be added to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. A staycation is when a person stays at home during their vacation time to explore their local culture. Basically it is taking your holiday at home instead of spending money flying all over the world map.

It is a telling indication of how jargon is changing the way that Americans converse with each other. Some other words that were added to the dictionary include vlog, which is a video blog and locavores, people who only eat locally produced foods.

Staycation is an important word for the summer and should be added to the dictionary. More people are using their vacation time for the staycation. While other s are picking up a road map, and heading out on a summer road trip.

The staycation is becoming a more important part of American culture because it is required of many American families this summer. With the economy the way that it is, families cannot afford to take lavish vacations spanning the world globe. And that really is fine, there is so much that we can discover right in our own backyards. We may have just been too busy to notice or running errands to take the time to do so.

This alone will have an impact on the style of teaching, whereas a teacher in the boys’ class should move around the room as they lecture, a teacher in a girls’ classroom would not need to move around at all.
