History and Benefit of Hydrotherapy and the Hot Tub Spa
For years, a hot tub spa was a luxury that only the very wealthy could afford. Spas were expensive to purchase and to install and operated, and on top of that, there were not reliable. They broke down often, and were expensive to repair. However, the spas today are made with superior materials and are the product of many years of improvement in the manufacturing process. The prices have lowered and now many can afford the ‘luxury’. Hot tubs and spas have consequently became very popular additions to homes throughout the country.
Throughout history, in various civilizations and cultures throughout the world, spas were an integral aspect of daily life. There were the bathhouses of Rome, which were social centers and a daily activity of the upper classes. In ancient Japan and China, the society made use of the baths and hot spas as well. What these ancient civilizations knew, was that hot baths were good for the body, they relaxed muscles, opened the skin’s pores and just generally promoted better physical health. On top of the therapeutic benefits, cleanliness signified prosperity, and to simply be clean was considered to be healthy. During those times of history, only the very wealthy could afford the time and the facilities.
Today, the medical and scientific world are aware of the benefits of hydrotherapy and the use of hot tubs. Ailments and injuries can be improved, and the physical pain eased with regular treatments of hydrotherapy. Those treated regularly are people suffering from multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and any other ailment that involved the deterioration of the muscles, connective tissues and the joints. Everything that involves the loss of ones range of motion, even victims of paralysis, benefit from the hot tub spa treatment. Joints are loosened and the aches and pains are alleviated through time spent in the warm water. So be it just to simply relax, or be it to treat these various diseases, a hot tub spa is affordable and will enhance the lives of all those deciding to add one to their lifestyle and to their home.
