Central Park Move
When picking a mover or simply trying to learn the lingo of moving, the place you should start is the user forum Movingscam.com . I found this site when I was staying at a Hotel Central Park while on business in New York and this site was invaluable for my move. The forums are moderated by a number of people involved in the moving industry and people who have years upon years of expertise. While these very moderators won’t tell you which movers to use, the do maintain an invaluable Blacklist of companies with bad histories, and they keep up a very clean message boards and review boards specific to many moving companies and also to many moving popular routes. For example, I found a few NYC to DC forums with insights and reviews by people who had recently made the exact same move. A move with which I was planning.
As a result, I found a fantastic moving company who gave me a competitive price and stuck to it. They were very professional, no shuttle was required because of the fact they use a small truck, and what I found to most important, they delivered all of my items in tact on the very day they promised they would. All in All, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend to anyone moving to use the site I mentioned above.
Once you choose your mover, the next question that comes up is where to get moving boxes of all sizes. I recommend first to try the moving company that you chose, but also compare the pricing with other moving companies because pricing varies significantly. Second, you can order boxes on line, just Google ‘moving boxes’ and well over a millions sites pop-up. The majority of on-line box suppliers ship the boxes for free. Third you can by boxes from your local Mail and Shipping stores like, Staples, Home Depot or UPS stores. I found Home Depot http://www.homedepotcenter.com/ to have the best selection and pricing.
Over all, I was very fortunate that my move went off as smoothly as it did. Moving to New York, I thought would be a very scary ordeal, but with a little bit of research on my part, help me in the long run.
