Updating Skills is One Way to Recession-Proof Job

During these trying financial times, it is important to try to recession-proof your job. I work with customers selling clothing. I realized that even though I think my people skills are fine, it’s always good to enroll in a leadership development program and take a course in customer service skills training.

Good leadership skills are needed for the employees I manage and for recession-proofing my job. I think that by keeping my skills current for the customers and showing my superiors that I know how to take care of my store, I’ll be able to stay through these hard times.

I’ve heard of businesses getting rid of their oldest, most loyal employees to save a buck or two by replacing them with people that don’t have to have as much money. I don’t think my company would do this but I want to make sure I am doing all that I can to not get downsized.
