Interesting Class Action Case

Posted in Legal

I came across this fascinating piece of news regarding a class action lawsuit:

Outside of Boston Legal, this litigation is one of the most twisted ones I can recall. I have had a fascination with litigation for years, particular for those lawsuits that seem kind of upside down. Recently, my emails got subpoenaed in this specific case, which prompted me to pick up this topic and provide an opinion from someone who was in a somewhat unique position when this whole Vista Capable drama unfolded.

Basically, what the Plaintiffs say is that Microsoft intentionally misled people into buying certain PCs before Vista shipped by making them believe these systems would run the operating system. Which these computers actually did, but the buyers wanted to run Aero and didn’t know that Intel’s graphics chips really sucked at the time. These folks, for some reason, clearly didn’t feel the need for speed; they had an Amour for Aero. Read more class action lawsuits news

Updating Skills is One Way to Recession-Proof Job

During these trying financial times, it is important to try to recession-proof your job. I work with customers selling clothing. I realized that even though I think my people skills are fine, it’s always good to enroll in a leadership development program and take a course in customer service skills training.

Good leadership skills are needed for the employees I manage and for recession-proofing my job. I think that by keeping my skills current for the customers and showing my superiors that I know how to take care of my store, I’ll be able to stay through these hard times.

I’ve heard of businesses getting rid of their oldest, most loyal employees to save a buck or two by replacing them with people that don’t have to have as much money. I don’t think my company would do this but I want to make sure I am doing all that I can to not get downsized.

Cooper Tire Increases Value of Older Car

I recently went online and did a search because I needed a new Cooper tire. I found the site for Performance Tires Plus and to my surprise I found custom chrome wheels that I could afford in addition to the auto tire that I already planned on purchasing.

In fact, I was able to really make my car look great. The new tire and rims seemed to add a lot of value to my car. The whole experience of driving is a lot better now that I like the way my car looks.

It also seems to drive better. I think that new cars can make the road seem smoother if you have an older car like mine. And when you have an older car, you really need anything to increase the value. That way you won’t rush out and buy a new car when your old car still runs fine and just maybe needs a facelift.

Concert Tickets

Posted in Entertainment

I’ve been going to concerts most of my life. Some of my earliest ones were rock bands in the early 70s then I started going to jazz concerts in the 80. These days I go to whatever seems good to me.

These days if I’m looking for concert tickets I usually look and book online. I would love to get Aretha Franklin tickets and I know my daughter is desperate for Jonas Brothers tickets.

Although there are lost of tours doing the rounds there are only certain ones I want to go to. Hopefully they are coming to a location near to me. I dont fancy the extra cost of having to travel to another city to see a concert.

My United States Map gets Me Where I Need to Go

I love to travel and see the world. This summer I’m going to focus on North America. I already have vacation planned for Florida. My United States map will show me all of the states that I’ll have to drive through. So, really, my trip to Florida is a trip to that part of the country. Just when I get there, I’ll have to pull out my map of Florida to make sure I get everywhere I need to go.

After Florida I’ll head west and spend a few days in Texas. I have a huge map of Texas since that state is so enormous in size. I have an aunt in West Texas and one in Abilene. The state is so different from one area to the next that I feel like I need maps of each smaller chunk.

Once I visit my family there I’ll head to California. That is also another huge state and I feel like I need multiple California maps. Souther California is so different from Northern California.

So, not only will I be adding more maps to my traveling collection, I’ll be adding a lot more miles to my car!

French Open Tennis Coverage

Posted in Sports

Its the time of year when a young tennis player starts thinking about the upcoming tennis season! One of the highlights for me is the French Open. I am a big fan of this tournament because of the clay courts. I play a lot on clay courts and believe me it is a completely different game!

To follow the tournament (mid May to early June) you can follow the action on the main Roland Garros website. Another option is to watch The Tennis Channel wich has French Open tennis coverage.

My dream is that at some point in my life I will be able to head over to Europe and take in both the French Open and the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Hopefully I can manage to save up enough to take this trip of a lifetime.

I will be interested to see who makes it through to the finals this year. My money is once again on Rafael Nadal and Justine Henin who seem to be able to adapt to the surface so well. Look out for a great French Open this year!
