Mayor Peter Kelly is defending himself against accusations that he is anti-business. Yesterday, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce issued a statement to say that it was concerned with published reports that quote the mayor as saying the local business community has ulterior financial motives in creating a new citizens’ advocacy group.

HOLMES BEACH — A woman was shot in the stomach around 10 a.m. today in a robbery at a Bradenton Beach business, and a police chase ensued in which the suspect shot at officers, according to police emergency communications.
